Mevo has a new home

Dear Livestream community,

Today we are sharing some big news: our Mevo live event camera has a new home. We are excited to announce that Max Haot, the Livestream founder who launched the original Mevo back in 2016, has bought the Mevo business from Vimeo/Livestream.

As part of the sale, we will continue to be a close partner of Mevo. We are a shareholder in Max’s company, Mevo Inc., and will continue to power cloud-based tools for all Mevo cameras. That means you can keep simulcasting to multiple destinations from directly within the Mevo app, add graphics, archive your recorded streams to Vimeo, and more. So you shouldn’t expect any disruptions to your service, and more importantly, you should look forward to plenty of new innovations to come.

Why sell Mevo?

Mevo is a truly innovative product that has amassed a loyal, viral following over the last few years. Max and his team are the original creators behind the product, and when the opportunity came up to partner, it felt like the ideal way for Mevo to stand on its own while still benefiting from Vimeo/Livestream’s support. After an incredible 3 year history with over 50,000 cameras sold and millions of live events streamed, today really feels like we’ve come full circle.

I’m a Mevo customer or partner. How does this change things?

The Mevo product will continue to operate as usual, with no interruptions in experience to our customers. Vimeo will also continue to power the cloud storage, live graphics and simulcasting capabilities for all Mevo cameras, ensuring a seamless live workflow. If you are a Vimeo Producer or Premium subscriber, nothing changes. If you are one of our many trusted and valued partners, the only thing that changes is that Max and the Mevo Inc. team are your new points of contact. If you have immediate questions, please feel free to visit help.getmevo.com or contact support@getmevo.com and we’ll be happy to assist.

Thank you to all of our employees, customers, partners, and investors for your support and loyalty of our Mevo products. We are incredibly proud of what we’ve built, and even more excited about the future of live streaming with Mevo.

Sincerely,

Anjali Sud, CEO of Vimeo

Max Haot, CEO of Mevo Inc.

Expand your audience with live streaming to Chromecast

Despite myriad choices among streaming video devices, Chromecast remains a popular choice among consumers. Google is taking note — it recently announced deeper Chromecast integrations into its hardware ecosystem, and now Chromecast is even taking the lead as the most popular streaming device in some markets (we’re looking at you, Australia).

Finding the best way to distribute your live content across Chromecast and similar devices like Roku, Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, and Xbox can feel overwhelming. That’s where Vimeo OTT can help.

Live streaming with Vimeo OTT

Vimeo OTT streamlines content distribution workflows from one hub. Now, creators can launch their own branded apps and subscriptions across streaming devices — including Chromecast — to boost their reach without draining their bandwidth (or wallet). What’s more, Vimeo OTT supports both on-demand and live video.

ISC Sports, a regional sports broadcasting company from Indiana, grew from exclusively live streaming to blending live and on-demand video with Vimeo OTT. Through offering their content through more streaming channels, they’re able to broaden their reach and attract more advertising partners for their network.
