Paquito D’Rivera defies categorization. The winner of numerous GRAMMY® Awards, he is celebrated both for his artistry in Latin jazz and for his achievements as a classical composer. The Cuban jazz reedman has recorded more than 30 solo albums and founded many acclaimed ensembles dedicated to celebrating Latin music, including the Chamber Jazz Ensemble, the Paquito D’Rivera Big Band, and the Paquito D’Rivera Quintet. While D’Rivera’s discography reflects a passion for jazz, bebop, and Latin music, his contributions to classical music are significant as well, having performed as a soloist with orchestras like the London Philharmonic, the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra, the Baltimore Symphony, and the Puerto Rico Symphony Orchestra. These sets at Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola will showcase D’Rivera at his best as Jazz Meets the Classics.
