Catherine Russell has been considered a top jazz vocalist since the release of her debut CD in 2006. Though this recording debut catapulted her to mainstream success, her experience extends decades beyond her recording history, and the list of artists with whom Russell has worked includes Steely Dan, David Bowie, Cyndi Lauper, Paul Simon, Jackson Browne, and Levon Helm. For one night only, she celebrates the release of Bring It Back, a reinvented treasure trove of American music. The repertoire includes collaborations between Louis Armstrong and his music director, Luis Russell (Catherine’s father), selections from the Jazz Age and Swing Era, plus the iconic blues songs of Esther Phillips, Al Hibbler, Wynonie Harris, and Little Willie John. With a huge voice and feel that ranges from soft and playful to deeply emotional, seeing Catherine Russell in person is a special treat.
