Almost half of Americans own a smartphone and about 48% of them are Android devices, according to a recent Nielsen study. And these numbers are quickly growing — more than 100 million Google Androids shipped in the second quarter of 2012, an increase of more than 100% year-over-year. Despite these numbers, companies are more often designing branded applications for the iPhone and ignoring the Android market altogether.
