BMX, or rather BMX Race, is an extreme sport developed in the 1960s on the west coast of the USA. BMX stands for Bicycle Motocross, and it arrived in Belgium in the 1980s. BMX Race is governed by the UCI (International Cycling Union), the world governing body for sports cycling. The sport has seen enormous growth, not only in Belgium but throughout Europe and beyond, since the Beijing Olympic Games in 2008. BMX Zolder and Circuit Zolder are therefore very proud to be organising the biggest event of the year for this sport, the 2015 UCI BMX World Championships.
